Alrighty. This is me.
I'm Cam, 19 years old as of 2 weeks ago, roughly.
I'm interested in body mods in a few key ways, I guess:
The techno/biological aspect of it is pretty important... basically, I'm interested in the ability of the body to heal what are essentially foreign objects and damage to itself.
In a cultural sense as well, I like the concept of a 'culture' of body modification. Counter-culture or not, I like the relative social freedom that belonging (tenuously) to the modded community brings.
I say tenuously because my relationship with the community isn't 'normal' or average in the way that a person with stretched ears and a septum piercing might belong. All my mods are below the belt and hidden from pretty much everyone except me, my S.O, and my artist. Well, them and the internet - good ol' BME, showing off my junk since 2006.
I dress pretty conservatively, I don't have outrageous or even unruly hair, and I'm a very accomodating person - I won't force my opinions on others, and more often than not I'll agree with someone's viewpoint because I'll see merit in it (wow, all this introspection is killing me).
And finally, I have to say I like the aesthetic aspect. Maybe it's a little Giger-ish, but there's something unsettling and calming at the same time about looking at a well-healed, happy piercing or other mod - something that's not really meant to be there, but is anyway.
That's pretty much the end of my introspective ramble. I'm sure this'll get longer as I think of more to add, but that's it for now!
